Practice Nurses
They provide various services including
dressings, immunisations and injections, removing stitches, taking blood
samples and ear syringing. They are available each
morning and evening, and also hold special clinics during the afternoon
and evening.
Asthma & CHD (Heart Disease) Clinics (appointment only)
Tuesday - 2.00pm - 3.30pm
Diabetes Clinics (appointment only)
Monday & Wednesday - 2.00pm - 4.00pm
(A Dietician and
Podiatrist are usually in attendance at these clinics)
COPD Clinic (appointment only)
Friday - 2.00pm - 3.30pm
If you suffer from any of the above
conditions, you should expect to be called for review by the practice
nurses annually.
Cervical Smears
Carried out by the Nurse on Thursday afternoon
between 2.00pm - 3.40pm, or you can book a double-appointment on any other evening.
We will endeavour to see any woman
who is due or overdue a smear at any other time. Smears are recommended
for women aged 20 to 64, every 3 years. |
Blood Tests
For routine blood
tests, a phlebotomist is available every morning 9.00-11.00am, or see the
practice nurse if other tests are required. All blood tests are
carried out before 11.00am ready for pick-up by
the collection service.
Baby Clinics
A Well Baby Clinic is held on Tuesday
afternoons, by appointment. Child vaccinations and health checks are
also carried out. For obvious reasons, DO NOT bring ill or possibly
infectious babies to the clinic. A Baby-Weighing Clinic is run on Friday afternoons 1.00-2.30pm.
Foreign Travel
Advice and immunisations by our practice
nurses are available to all patients travelling abroad.
We advise you to enquire well in advance of travel.
Health Visitors & Midwives
Health Visitors specialise
in caring for mothers with young children and the elderly and gives advice on
childhood immunisations and child development. The Midwives care for
pregnant mothers before and after the birth of their baby. Antenatal
Clinics are run at the surgery on Wednesdays between 1.30–3.00pm. |
